Our Story

Bean Tree Tea was founded in 2020 by Secorra Heinrichs at the age of 13 years old. She believes in the principle that teas made from organic ingredients are better for people and better for the environment, and that income from sales of teas should also support projects that make the world a better place for all of us.

Her company started as just an idea hatched in the mind of an inspired young girl. Her family had always been big tea drinkers, and she had grown up drinking tea. Her mom would only let her drink teas that were organic and she could not find many tea options that appealed to her. She started to open tea bags that were at her house and mix them with other teabags to make her own blends. Later on in that year, her school had a short class on making and filling teabags. One day she had the sudden idea to start her own tea company, and she made a plan on how she would accomplish this. Initially she was planning on waiting until she was 18 years old, as she had never heard of young entrepreneurs starting companies at such a young age. Then she found a video of an entrepreneur around the same age as her who had started a business. She decided that there was no need to wait and on that day, June 18th 2020, she committed to start her own organic tea business.

The name of her business is inspired by her special loving cat, Bean, and because she will be donating to plant trees, she created the name Bean Tree Tea. Through her dedication and hard work, Bean Tree Tea has become a growing business providing a creative selection of unique and delicious teas made from organic ingredients to her customers.
